Whirly twirly princess pettiskirts made in a rainbow of colors!
These fluffy and feminine tutu or petticoat skirts are everything a little (and not so little) girl dreams of. So why not why not make all those dreams come true!
My newest pattern, Princess Pettiskirts, is a based on vintage petticoat designs with options for both single and double layered skirts. I've also included in-depth instructions for using a ruffler foot on the sewing machine and how to quickly gather using a serger. Extra embellishing techniques include making ruffler flowers and how to trim tops & t-shirts to match. Shortcuts include using my Rolls of Chiffon and other valuable tips.
Now Shipping!! What are "Rolls of Chiffon" My Daughter Lauren Now, do you think if I ask my Mother to make me a skirt for my birthday, I could get away with wearing it. I mean really, does the little girl in us ever grow-up? I sincerely hope not!
After spending too much time detailing the pettiskirt instructions, the kits and pattern are ready for shipping! In my passion for the project, I managed to write 10 pages of instructions with tips & hints, plus how to sew with my new "Rolls of Chiffon" fabric. Also included are in-depth ruffler foot instructions, quick cutting & sewing instructions plus and any other little thing I thought you should know. I hope you enjoy making them as much as I have. I will share with you shortly the two new skirts currently underway mixing colors and adding a velvet top tier. Stay tuned!
After making several skirts, the strip cutting and sewing was taking all the fun out of the project. I decided to put on my thinking cap and devised a solution, my new Rolls of Chiffon! These are rolls of pre-cut chiffon fabric (not tulle). Simply choose a skirt size, buy the corresponding size Rolls of Chiffon and simply begin sewing, no cutting or seaming of strips is needed.
Over the years many of you have heard me talk about my daughter, Lauren. She has just turned 21 and asked me to sew her a pettiskirt to wear for her birthday party. As I am sure many of you have experienced, as our children grow, they tend to outgrow the desire for their mother's to sew for them. Well, the thought of my only daughter turning 21 and how old that makes me, was completely forgotten when she sweetly asked me to sew for her once again! Here she is in her very own pettiskirt.

I love the idea of the Chiffon instead of tulle. I've made some play tutus for my granddaughter who is 2 and she loves them but they are "scratchy, Mimi!" I can't wait to get your pattern and the chiffon for her.

I just came across your designs tonight after reading Sew Beautiful Magazine. I LOVED all your designs in the magazine. I can't wait to get the newest book and I am ordering the First Sewing with Whimsy Book. This pettiskirt is adorable and I think I will order the pattern as well. I don't think I have been this excited about a new pattern since I ran across Sandi Henderson patterns! You're so creative!
