The Martha Pullen Company will be providing a "Pre-Treat" event at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Lakeland, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia: The School of Art Fashion Boutique!
Kari will be teaching her Sewing with Whimsy School: When you register for a School at the School of Art Fashion Boutique, you’ll take part in two and a half jam-packed days doing just what you like – sewing, sewing and more sewing with the best kits and materials ever! Guidance, shared artistry, technical advice and more from the foremost experts in their fields, and a limited number of people in each class make this intimate, personalized “pre-treat” very special indeed.

Bow & Bouquet Dress
Artfully embellished with Kari's unique whimsy trims, this A-line dress goes from sweetly classic to simply unforgettable! Learn to make a bouquet of quick and easy spaghetti-outlined appliqué with Whimsy Stick ribbon flowers. Dress features a contrasting bow front collar and hem band. Made in quarter foil prints, the dress looks modern while allowing the embellishments to become the focal point of this blooming beauty! Dress sizes 2 – 6.
Sassy & Sweet Baby Bubble
This charming baby bubble features a sleeveless bodice with clever overlapped side seams and is made in gingham with mini piping along the edges. The bubble is trimmed with bright blooming Whimsy Stick flowers and medallions with button and spaghetti trims. Use a contrasting print for the gathered body of the bubble, with elastic leg openings, of course! Sizes 12 – 14 months.

Blooming Beauties
Learn to make a trio of elegantly crafted millinery flowers from silk organza, taffeta and wired ribbons. Made using Whimsy Sticks looped trim, each flower is easily created using Kari’s unique techniques. The flowers include a two-tone taffeta rose with softly rounded petals, a two color silk organza rose with cut edge curling petals with a stamen center, and a softly colored metallic dahlia with pointed petals. Added leaves and felt backings make these blooms perfect to wear as pins, use in home decor or to brighten any space.

Spaghetti Outlined Appliqués
Appliques are a great way to add color, dimension and even a touch of Whimsy to your sewing. By outlining the applique elements in spaghetti, the raw edges are cleverly concealed and trims can be easily added to the design. Spaghetti trims, pre-made sewn tube of bias (no raw edges), curve easily and come in two widths. Choose from several applique designs and ribbon accents to use in class. Appliques are assembled on a non-stick surface and glue basted in layers. The appliques are sewn in class using a variety of machine stitches and can be applied to a project later. Perfect to add to kids’ clothes, quilts, wall hangings and more!

Whimsy Borders and Edges…and a Pillowcase
Make fun borders and sassy edgings using Whimsy Sticks and several styles of ribbon. Basic Whimsy trims are made in one and two colors, and in a variety of styles. Once the trims are made, learn ways to sew trim into seams, to join trim ends, to twist trims and more. Six different pieces of trim are made in class and techniques such as looping trim into designs, plus how to make several styles of scallop and zig-zag trims are shown. Many ways to use, embellish and apply trims are discussed and demonstrated in class. The trim of your choice will be applied to a pillowcase we will make in class.
