Designer unknown, as seen on display at quilt market. It simply evokes strength and serenity.
I recently attended my first Quilt Market in Houston, TX. As advised, I packed my super large tote and my best walking shoes. I can honestly say my feet didn’t hurt, but the weight of my tote was another story.
I began my experience with the Sample Spree on Friday night. Not having ever been before, I wasn’t even sure what the Sample Spree was, but I was assured it was something not to be missed. Truer words were never spoken! This is an event where the vendors have the opportunity to sell samples of all their new products. As the doors opened, everyone headed straight for the Moda table – I went in the opposite direction. I found great MOP buttons, velvet rickracks, trims & tape measures. By the time I made it to the last row, the event was closing and Moda (I really do love their fabrics) had packed up all their fat packs, layer cakes, jellyrolls and were gone.

The show itself was fascinating. As I walked the aisles I collected catalogs and fliers, samples and swatches. It dawned on me around midday that my tote was getting awfully heavy and maybe I should be a little more selective in the literature I accept.
I purchased some really great ribbons and trims that have Laurel more than a little busy scanning and adding them to the website. Here are a few samples.
Striped, velvet corduroy, double sided satin dot and another striped ribbon all shown made into fun flowers.
We also have in the newest line of fabric from Riley Blake. I can’t wait to start sewing!
I also ordered a great selection of humorous Japanese fabrics featuring squirrels, deer, mushrooms, frogs and more. Unfortunately they aren’t due in until sometime in December. Stay tuned for swatches!
Other new items include a very vintage looking swirl textured minky in a cream and in a rose tint. Also, silky animal print satins that will look great lining the minky or as the top tier of a pettiskirt.
Super soft with curly swirls makes this look amazing. 100% polyester satin prints are great fun either as a lining, to make camisoles or as a backing for a minky lap quilt.
I have a pic of you from Market. It sure was fun!!
